The Sweet Life

The secret of health for the mind and the body is not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, nor to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly. - Dalai Lama

I’ve been wondering what direction to take with this blog. Do I keep it solely about film, or do I expand it to cover other aspects of my day-to-day experiences as a full-time mama-filmmaker? Because there’s lots more to sweetie films than just shooting and editing. There’s seeing and playing and baking and napping, not to mention tickling and giggling. And there’s a fair amount of pooping and peeing, too. And a whole lot of nursing, or as we call it “youwantsomeboobies?”

I think I’ll follow this path for awhile, and write about what it’s like to juggle a shooting schedule and a toddler. There’s plenty of material here – post-production at 4am, frantic emails and returning phone calls during nap time, taking the bebe along in the Ergo for location scouts – and how to do it all without any type of child care in this recession economy. And without a decent night’s sleep, too.

I’ve got about an hour before my little monkey wakes up. Lots to do …
